The Holy Spirit is not condemning us, or convicting us of sin. He is actually doing quite the opposite. He is convicting us of righteousness! This righteousness is not something that we have earned, or worked to obtain. It is an inheritance. Because we are in Christ, we have been declared righteous. I John 5:18 says "we know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not..." Are you born of God? Then you are kept, held, stayed...by faith in HIS righteousness!
This is based on our faith in Jesus finished work, not our own works...not the things we attempt to do to make ourselves right with God. Because of Jesus, we are already right with God! When we are working to obtain the blessings of God and increase His favor on our lives, we are actually trusting more in our own works than we do the finished work of Jesus. It is a tiring daily effort to attempt to manage an endless inventory of moral uprightness, in order to please God...when in fact, God is already pleased with you..and you are complete in Him.
It is the job of the Holy Spirit to bring out the treasure that you are and were made to be...to reveal to you the love of God for you, to show you that you are perfect in His eyes, to reveal your amazing gifts, and to allow you to see that there isn't another "you" anywhere in the world. You are unique and amazing!
Don't listen to those who would try to persuade you to believe differently. No matter how sincere a person's intention may be, anyone seeking righteousness by works is actually rejecting the righteousness of Christ. When you trust in His righteousness, you will begin to believe in, and live out the amazing plan that God has for you.
