Luke 5:4. "Launch out into the deep water"
Jesus instructed the fishermen to launch out into the deep. That is where the boatload of fish were to be found. The depth of the water into which we embark really depends on several things...have we completely let go at the shoreline? How great is our need to "launch out", and even...how significant is our fear of the deep water?
I believe that it is the same with us as it was with Simon. It is in the deep places of God where our needs are met. It is in the depth of His word that we will find new meaning.
When we launch out Into the depth of the atonement, we begin to have such a beautiful understanding of Who Christ is..and How greatly we are loved. This alone will carry us through the deepest waters that we could ever maneuver. When we begin to have a deeper understanding of Who He is, we begin to have a deep understanding of who we are in Him. Our trust begins to increase. Our hope grows...and we find ourselves floating along the deep and furious water...not really concerned about the depth...because we know the One Who carries us, the One Who provides...and the One to whom we are anchored.
We can put out into the deep of God's purpose for us. We will be strengthened to walk in that purpose, and to face every detour with boldness and confidence that God is holding on to us, and that we will not sink. We will be more courageous about whatever is set before us...whether it's our ministry, or simply sharing the good news that is the gospel. The depth of our vision unfolds until our we can begin to imagine the brilliance of His presence and our heart is overwhelmed with joy!
The waters of Ezekiel's vision were at first ankle deep. Soon, they were knee deep.then they were waist deep. Eventually, they were so deep that they could not be passed over. I heard A teacher one time who said that once the waters are over our heads, it really doesn't matter how deep they become..because we are simply floating along...trusting God on this voyage...knowing that He will never let go of the controls.
Beloved...launch out into the deep river of life! I believe the Holy Spirit desires that our SELF be completely submerged. In that way, we are hidden...and even bathed..in His life giving stream. Let loose of whatever you may be holding onto at the shoreline...and sail with Him into the deepest of waters. This is a great adventure!
