John 10:10"the thief cometh not but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
These are the words of Jesus..the One who laid down His life for us...and He is telling us here that His purpose in coming, was to make sure that we would have abundant life! If you look up that word "life" in the original language, it is talking about life overflowing...life that is completely full of all the goodness of God! This is what your Savior came to give you! The objective in His coming was the exact opposite of the thief. He came once, for all, that in Him..the sheep would have life.
And yet, some of us have believed and even been taught, that sickness comes from God...that He is trying to teach us and make us more Christlike through it. Beloved, this could not be further from the truth. Although it is certainly possible, when we have been afflicted with some type of illness, for The Lord to speak to us, and for us to gather strength from Him, He is NOT the One who sends it. Jesus Himself was not taught through sickness or disease.
God called sickness a curse in Deuteronomy 28:59-61. Jesus called it bondage in Luke 13:16. Peter referred to it as satanic oppression in Acts 10:38. God is not fond of sickness. He doesn't send it. He is completely against it. He has done everything in His power to make sure that His children walk in healing and good health.
It is the devil who steals, kills and destroys. Sickness steals quality of life. It kills and aborts vision in one's life, and destroys hope. Jesus said that He has come so that we could experience life!
Was God ever sick? No!! And Jesus didn't come to bind us in ropes of bondage! He came to set us free!
