John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you..My peace give I unto you...not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
God's heart is big enough to hold anything you may be carrying. He holds your joy as well as your pain. He is with you in tears as well as in laughter. He has not forgotten you..no matter what you might be tempted to believe. He doesn't love you less when circumstances change or things aren't going well. His love for you is from everlasting to everlasting. His love for you is perfect. His love for you is powerful. His love for you is unchanging. His love for you can be trusted.
The result if this incredulous love relationship with The Lord...is peace. Jesus specified that it is not the same kind of peace that the world gives, which is often described as the absence of conflict. It is a confident assurance of the love that holds us, and the arms that carry us. It is a place without fear.
Peace, by definition, means contentment, a quiet rest, a state of tranquility. It is a place without rage or havoc from war. Have you ever felt like there was a war going on around you..or in you? Whether it was a situation that came into your life that crept in unexpectedly, or just the wrestling of combative thoughts that try to permeate your soul, you have been given a gift. Jesus left you an inheritance. He has instructed us to let not our hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. This means that we have some say in how our life goes. We have some say about the emotional things that try to penetrate our thinking. We don't have to live in that place of havoc. We have been called to live in a place of calm. Peace is your inheritance. It can't be taken from you by your circumstances.
Jesus has given peace..right smack dab in the middle of your situation...your heartache..your pressure. And He hasn't given it in the way that the world gives, because it is He who stills the storm and quiets the waves. We can rest in the boat...content...knowing that our Anchor holds firm. No amount of water can swallow up our ship, because He is the Master of every wave. That is peace.
