In Ephesians 1:18-20 Paul is praying for the church, you and me for that matter, and is very adamantly praying that we would understand a POWERFUL truth, that our eyes would be enlightened to the way the EXCEEDING POWER of God works in our life as believers...
In verse 1:20 Paul states that this power was "wrought" in Christ when God raise Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in the Heavenly. The key to this verse is the word "wrought". The Greek word "energeō" as the Strong's concordance defines it means: to be ACTIVE and EFFICIENT, with the idea that a putting forth of this power has already happened and this power is now in operation!
That's good news! That means, when the sinless, spotless, savior of the world, Jesus, was raised from the dead, God's power would be forever "operating" and accessible to anybody!
What Paul wants us to be "enlighten" to, is that the power of God has nothing to do with you or me; how good we're doing, or how crumby we're doing. God is not a respecter of persons, so He doesn't choose to "release" power in your life if your actions are pleasing to Him, or "withhold" power from you if your actions are not pleasing to Him. God simply wants us to experience this power by trusting daily, whole heartedly, in the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus; and so that, it doesn't "become of no effect unto us" (1 Corinthians 1:17-18).
As well, this word "energeō" has the idea of being "efficient", meaning: maximum results with minimum effort... Not that the sacrifice of Jesus was a minimum effort in His suffering, but that this "power" gets maximum results with minimum effort, in it's quantity... One sacrifice, a one time event, that released the maximum results of the power of God! The very power of God to change our hearts and lives. The power of God to experience "salvation" on a daily basis. (Romans 1:16-17)
Saints, we MUST trust in the Cross!!! Not religiously, because we "must", but from our hearts, because it's the only way to experience God, to know who He really is... All of God"s character is revealed through the Cross! All of His promises are "yes and amen" in the Cross! We've been blessed with "ALL spiritual blessings" in the Cross! God wants to lead and guide us by His Spirit through our faith in the Cross! It's the Cross, the Cross, the Cross!!! Worship Him for His Cross! Praise Him for His Cross! Be looking to His Cross...
Whatever you're going through, whatever your need is, the Cross is your answer!!! It's THE power of God!!!
Hallelujah!!!
